Weekend festival fun with FORK and QMD

By on June 19, 2015

West End Festival fun continues this weekend with the spotlight on the Friends of the River Kelvin Summer Gala tomorrow (Saturday, June 20) and the Queen Margaret Drive Street Festival (Sunday, June 21).

The FORK  Summer Gala takes place around Ha’penny Bridge House on the Lower Kelvin Walkway (which can also be accessed through the Botanic Gardens) from 11am until 7pm.

In addition to live bands, local food, stalls, crafts and activities, there will also be storytelling sessions – and canoe rides on the river.

And the next day, from 11am till 5pm, you can enjoy live music, street play, local food and drinks, arts and crafts, children’s inflatables, family sports and games and more at the annual Queen Margaret Drive street party.

All the great independent QMD shops will be open along with loads of stalls, and local community groups Sixty Steps, the Children’s Wood, North Kelvin Community Council and FORK will be there too.

And there will be a serious focus to Sunday’s activities too, with the chance to join new charity Friends of QMD, which is working to improve the area.
