Don't miss

Mother India’s Cafe

Mother India’s Cafe, 1355 Argyle St G3 8AD – Classy location, just across the road from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and on the edge of the Kelvinhaugh-Finnieston restaurant hub.

Laid-back and urban-cool, this a good spot for people meeting up. A sibling of the renowned and much-loved Mother India nearby, this was also one of the first Indian restaurants to embrace the small-dish tapas thing and the wide-ranging menu – once again – offers many dishes for under a fiver. We found plenty of vegetarian and fish dishes to choose from, such as Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower) with green beans and really enjoyed the warming earthy cumin flavour of the oven-baked Spiced Haddock, alongside curries such as Chicken Achari, cooked in a lime and chilli pickle.

Don’t miss – The light, fresh bite of Chilli Fish Cakes, at £4.95, with some good value deals on the daily-changing specials, such as the Vegetarian Thali, at £5.95, providing a choice of two vegetable dishes together with raita, salad and rice or chapati.

Coffee, teas and soft drinks – and licensed, with a strong selection of wines, beers, cider and spirits. Mother India’s Cafe 0141 339 9145
