Kelvingrove will open up the exhibition More than a Game – How Scotland Shaped World Football much later than usual ahead of what is an exciting weekend for the sport’s fans.
The special opening session is on the evening of Friday May 24. And with the Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich Champions League Final on Saturday May 25 and and the Hibs v Celtic Scottish Cup Final at Hampden the following day, the exhibition provides a timely reminder of this country’s influence on football across the globe.

Exhibits include goalposts and seats from Hampden and the stories feature famous names such as Rose Reilly Peralta, the only Scottish player to lift the World Cup – although for Italy – and Andrew Watson, the world’s first black player to play at international level. “More Than a Game is a detailed examination of how Scottish football helped shape the global game today and is a must see for all football fans,” said Councillor Archie Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life. “It’s the perfect way to get ready for two of the biggest games of the season.”
