Mary Queen of Scots among West End Festival opening highlights

Mary Queen of Scots
The West End Festival is underway, so here are the weekend highlights and listings.
Our picture highlights Mary Queen of Scots, a world premiere, at the Mackintosh Church tonight. Louise Macdonald presents new works by Judith Bingham, Dee Isaacs and Eddie McGuire, performed with Schumann’s “Maria Stuart Lieder”, a close look at the letters and poetry of Mary Queen of Scots …
But among a raft of free events are Sunday’s Food Gala at The Children’s Wood, North Kelvin Meadow, in the morning, with Willowbank Bowling Club open in the afternoon – An Inner City Oasis.
Of course, the main event on Sunday – leaving the Botanic Gardens at 3pm – is the Mardi Gras-style Festival Parade, with street entertainment all afternoon on Byres Road, and music continuing into the evening at Kelvingrove.
