Helensburgh Orchestral Society are on the lookout for new members – and they have Glasgow musicians in their sights!

Although the amateur orchestra is based in Helensburgh, they already have a number of members from the west end.

The orchestra, which plays a range of classical and modern music under the baton of conductor Robert Baxter, meets once a week at the Victoria Halls, Helensburgh from September through to June and usually performs three concerts per year.  Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7.30-10pm.

Helensburgh Orchestral Society say: “We’re a friendly bunch of people of all ages from secondary school to retired, who always welcome new members.

“At the moment we’re particularly looking for violinists – but if you play violin, viola, cello, double bass, French horn or tenor trombone to Grade 5 standard or equivalent, and are interested in joining, we’d love to hear from you!”
