Don't miss

Glorious Gibson Street Gala kicks-off month-long West End Festival

By on May 25, 2015

If it’s the Gibson Street Gala then it must be the West End Festival!

The Gibson Street Gala kicks off the annual summer celebrations just a little earlier than usual – so don’t miss this fantastic family friendly event on Sunday, May 31 from 12-6pm.

This year’s theme is Earth, Wind, Fire and Water – and if that sounds like tempting fate, don’t worry … As you can see from our photos last year’s event threw a fair variety of weather at the festivities and it failed to dampen the all-singing- all-dancing feelgood spirits of this popular local shindig.

For youngsters this year there will be loads of events at Kidzones in Otago Street, Eldon Street and at Hillhead Primary School.

Artfusion is an open air art gallery featuring work from various artistic disciplines plus exciting, participatory and interactive art events.

Local radio celebrity Fat Brestovca will host the Gibson Street Stage and there will also be music on the Backcourt Stage as part of GOW Backcourt, where the Gibson Street, Otago Street and Westbank Quadrant green includes many more events.

Park Road will showcase local talent on the community stage, with St Silas open to everyone at the Gibson St Gala to recharge, relax, chat, have fun and make use of the facilities!

Every year there is also a big selection of trader stalls on the bridge between Gibson Street and Eldon Street – and there will be plenty of food and drink on offer from the street’s bars, restaurants, cafes and traders.

* Gibson Street Gala, Sunday, May 31 from 12-6pm.
