Gillian Kyle in tune with Scotland the Brave

By on February 27, 2014

In a collaboration with young Scottish illustrator Tony Mackay, Finnieston-based designer Gillian Kyle has just launched a distinctive range of ‘Scotland the Brave’ mugs, coasters, teatowels and tote bags.

The designer says: “In what is a big year for Scotland, we thought we’d celebrate with a salute to the unofficial Scottish national anthem, Scotland the Brave, and to the bonnie banks and braes of Caledonia”.

Coasters start the range at £7.20, more information here.

* Although the tune connected with Scotland the Brave is thought to have been around since the late 19th century, the lyrics were written in 1951 by (and I must declare a – very proud – family connection here) Glasgow journalist, author and broadcaster Cliff Hanley, for singer Robert Wilson, arranged by Marion McClurg.
