Gillian Kyle at the Country Living Christmas Fair
Gillian Kyle is just one of the Glasgow traders who will set up their stall at the Country Living Christmas Fair, which will get underway at the SECC for four days from Thursday, November 20.
The Hidden Lane based designer will bring her popular gift ranges featuring hand-drawn images of iconic Scottish and British foods and brands – with the Tunnock’s Teacake inspired products among her biggest sellers.
For Christmas, Gillian has brought out a limited edition range of gold and silver embellished mugs in three of her most popular mug designs.
And she said: “My personal favourite is the gorgeous, golden Scottish Breakfast mug,featuring a bevy of beloved Scottish food and drink – it will definitely add a bit of golden glamour to your coffee break. The range is very special and only available until Christmas.”
Also on the Country Living Christmas Fair stands will be Fortune Favours The Brave, another design-led Glasgow company creating images inspired by Scotland and taking influence from the country’s sense of humour, history and beautiful surroundings. So watch out for the Wee Broon Bags and Oor Wullie T-Shirts from this city centre company.
Of course there will be loads to see and do at the Christmas Fair, with more than 300 of the UK’s finest craftsmen and women offering unique gifts, inspired ideas and decorations.
Arts and craft lovers can pick up haberdashery, ribbons, fabrics, sewing kits and craft essentials … A beautiful collection of evening and designer daywear, as well as accessories including bags, purses and jewellery. Gifts galore for the kids including handmade traditional wooden toys, beautifully-made soft toys, chunky knitwear, funky pyjamas, pretty party dresses and bright wells … And authentic regional delicacies such as gourmet sausages and hams, local cheeses and pate, Christmas cakes, puddings and chocolates.
Visitors can also enjoy free entry to informative theatres where experts will offer invaluable advice and entertaining demonstrations.
For instance, The DFS Lifestyle Theatre experts will offer advice on how to make the most of your home and garden over the festive period, with a series of talks and demonstrations including chocolate making, how to make handcream, creating the perfect cheeseboard and in a talk, How the Live the Dream and Pay the Mortgage, husband and wife Nick and Bella Ivins will inspire and entertain with the story of how they transformed Walnuts Farm.
And over in the Craft and Create Room hands-on workshops will be held where visitors can work alongside expert knitters, stitchers and upcyclers to create their own festive masterpiece.

John believes in using the finest natural local produce available, combined with the many ingredients and flavours he has experienced on his extensive world travels.
Sheila Jones has a passion for baking stemming from many afternoons spent with her mum learning the intricacies and secrets of delicious home baking. Sheila, who runs Glasgow business Mrs Jones’ Cakes, will share the joys of baking and cake decorating.
Karon Grieve, author of So Easy Herbal and So Easy Christmas, is an herb and natural home expert from Ayrshire, who you may have seen on Scottish Television. In her demonstrations, Karon will be showing how to make some easy, fun, natural and stylish gifts using basic larder staples.
