Dickson: We need the crowd to roar on Tigers

By on August 20, 2015

Glasgow Tigers fans have been urged to come out in their droves this weekend to back the side in another crucial Premier League encounter, writes Bryan Copland.

More than 1000 supporters were there to witness the Peugeot International Speedway Championship last weekend, which saw strong performances from all five of the Tigers who took part.

Now team boss Stewart Dickson wants a similar turnout this Sunday when his riders face fellow title challengers Somerset Rebels.

Dickson said: “There were some good performances on Sunday. Hynek Stichauer had a good win round the boards, Aaron Summers had a cracking race win. I’m glad Hynek got the meeting – he just needs to concentrate on his gating because he’s certainly fast enough on track.

“It gave Nick Morris a meeting under his belt and James Sarjeant was racing against a higher level of rider and knows what he’s got to get to. All in all, I think there were plus points in it from a team point of view through an individual match and we take it into this week against Somerset – which is going to be a humdinger.

“When we put a team together last winter, it was teams like Edinburgh and Somerset we were trying to get in the mix with. We’re envious of what they’ve done over the last two or three seasons – we want to be part of it – and that’s why when they come calling, it’s going to be massive.

“That’s why, if we get the same sort of backing our home riders received last Sunday, it’ll go a long way.

“Brady Kurtz flies round here, so does Josh Grajczonek. We’ve seen what Richie Worrall can do – as we did when he guested for us – Charles Wright has his moments and they’ve just signed Rasmus Jensen as well.

“It’s going to be tough but it’ll be a hell of a battle and we’ll need to ride well to win.”

Sunday’s meeting starts at 3pm.
